Does anyone know how to get the Music app to convert an iTunes library?Īnother question about the Music app. It won't run under Ventura which queered that option. The AppleCare person told me I should download iTunes and it would do it. I was told that upgrading to Ventura would cause it to do this. I expected music to do this when it sees the iTunes database file with an ".itl" extension in the folder. This all started with my needing to convert some iTunes libraries to libraries I can open in Music. So there is another piece of this that I need to deal with. It is not even easy to find out where it is storing downloaded music files. Music seems to be one of those apps that does a lot of things without asking thinking that it knows better what you want than you do. It is very perplexing and hard to use compared to iTunes which was already rather difficult to use. I am finding out that the music app on the new operating systems is more about the Apple music subscription than about managing music files on a computer. I guess I'm going to have to buy parallels and install Windows in order to use my Apple products. The person and someone at a local cell phone shop that works on ipods said that I should just use a windows computer, that itunes works better on a PC. I tried to download itunes from at the suggestion of a person from Applecare to better enable putting music on a pair of old ipods and found out that it won't run under Ventura.ĭoes anyone here know if Apple is going to update itunes to run under Ventura? The Applecare person figured they probably would but had no way of knowing.
